She was so badass and vulnerable at the same time. HOW DO YOU DO THE THINGS THAT YOU DO?!?!?!
The most difficult part about that story is I don’t think Beckett ever doubts that he’s not the killer. I think she is in tune enough with him to know that he isn’t. I think the thing that is the question in her mind is the question of whether he was unfaithful. And Beckett met the man when he was signing someone’s chest — someone’s boob! — and she knows he has a history of two failed marriages and one-night stands and things like that. So Beckett being the one-and-done type would want to know the relationship means as much to him as it does to her. And that’s where that conflict lies.

Stana Katic on Beckett dealing with Castle being a murder suspect and a past relationship of his in 5x06 (x) Beckett’s doubts actually make a lot of sense to me. Not because I think that Castle is untrustworthy, but because Beckett hasn’t seen the same parts of him as we have (as the audience). I remember watching an interview with Stana Katic once in which she’d recounted a story about how she’d asked Andrew Marlowe whether they ever talked about why Castle’s marriages failed on the show, and Marlowe’s response was yeah, they did, but that scene had occurred away from the precinct. Therefore, Stana herself didn’t know the reasons why Castle’s marriages failed, never mind Beckett. Sometimes I think that we forget that we have an advantage as the audience. We’ve seen Castle both in his home life and his semi-professional life, but Beckett doesn’t have that. And while even Lanie points out that Castle isn’t the same who used to show up in the society papers with each arm around some bimbo, Beckett was burned that very same episode when Castle shows up at her crime scene with—wait for it—a blonde flight attendant. Beckett already has innate insecurities about people leaving her/betraying her(e.g. Will, Royce, Montgomery, her dad, and to a certain extent, even her mom), so it’s reasonable that she would be insecure about whether Richard Castle is really absolutely committed to her. You would think that by now, it’d be a given, but it really isn’t. Beckett and Castle are really great friends and amazing partners by this point, but everything heightens once you’re in a relationship, and that includes one’s insecurities. Anyway, I just wanted to point this out because I can already see people getting indignant on Castle’s behalf and I wanted to remind everyone that we know a lot more about Castle than Beckett does. Ultimately, I believe that Beckett trusts Castle—both that he didn’t commit the murder and that he’s faithful to her—but sometimes our fears get the best of us. And I think that’s what this episode is going to do. It’s going to dig up Beckett’s deepest buried fears and make her confront them. The process will likely not be pretty, but in the end, these are the types of situations that will only strengthen her and Castle’s relationship.
