I know this is next to impossible, but... what if Andrew Marlowe did something that actually DID disappoint us?? The whole fandom would either die, go into instant shock or be convinced that the entire world was ending
So my chinese staircase is not so much a staircase as a random, uneven zigzag. This is turning out to be more difficult than anticipated.
For the first time I find myself wishing I was a girly-girl as a kid, the kind who made fancy bracelets and things all the time. Because my tomboy childhood of climbing trees, building forts and making bows and arrows is certainly not proving any use with this current project lol.
Watching a random James Franco movie only to discover that it has both McCallister (Raglan’s best friend and one of the three cops) and Oz (the drug dealer that Beckett beats up in Lucky Stiff) in it. Instant awesome movie.
Castle fans! I have a question about the finale....?
It’s just a minor detail I’ve been wondering about. Pretty much, it’s mostly completely insignificant- but it may have a small effect on how I write part of my next fanfic chapter, so I’m kind of interested to know.
So, I noticed that Beckett didn’t have any kind of handbag/clutch/purse etc at the funeral (I don’t even know if people bring bags, I’ve never been to a funeral), which leads me to wonder though, where did she put her stuff?? Like her keys and phone? In her pocket maybe? Because surely she at least had keys, so what did she do with them?
Anyway, as I said, a fairly insignificant detail- but I’m curious now. Any ideas?
Okay, it did NOT look like she was shot there. And wasn’t she supposed to be shot nearer the heart…? Unless I forget my anatomy,…
No actually this does seem fairly accurate. The abdomen extends up to the lower border of the sternum and ribs, and the heart lies predominantly behind the sternum. By my reckoning she was hit in the upper abdomen, just a little lower and slightly to the right of the bottom of the sternum. And if I’m right, despite the shot being ‘in the abdomen’, the bullet would still have only missed her heart by a couple of inches at the most.
OMFG. I seriously can't believe this actually happened.
BACKSTORY: So I live at a college in Australia… and there’s currently an American woman staying at the college for a few weeks while she works on her criminology degree. We got talking the other day and she’s been hanging out with my friends and I for the past few days because she doesn’t know anyone here. So yesterday I saw a DVD of Firefly in her room and discovered that she is a MASSIVE fan and just loves Nathan. I immediately asked her about Castle and she said she seriously wanted to see it but hadn’t ever had the chance, so today I gave her all my Castle files to watch. And then tonight we all went out for dinner… and this is where shit gets real.
So, at dinner, we’re talking about Nathan… and then SHE TELLS ME THAT SHE’S ACTUALLY MET HIM. Apparently she was in Canada for a holiday or something and happened to walk into an arcade and saw him there playing some asteroid game. So she had a mini fangirl attack then she and her husband went over and chatted with him and got a couple photos, and she said he was totally lovely and really friendly and awesome.
And I’m just sitting there like, OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS YOU ARE THE LUCKIEST PERSON ALIVE AND I TOTALLY JUST WANT TO KILL YOU AND STEAL THAT EXPERIENCE FROM YOUR BRAIN.
Fascinating things I've learned from the Castle fanfiction world:
Firstly, just want to say that I’m honestly not having a go at anyone here. I’m just stating something that I found really interesting and wanted to know if other people thought the same.
Fact #1: There are two ways to get quite a lot of reviews.
a) be quite a good writer and create an interesting, enjoyable story.
b) be a half-decent writer and have a great imagination for graphic smut.
Fact #2: Anyone who manages to successfully combine the two will have a fan following so huge they will then be capable of taking over the entire world…
Lol but personally, I respect (and am impressed by) both types of writers- just for very different reasons, of course :P But what I find most interesting about these facts is what it says about us readers haha….
Particularly (but not necessarily limited to) anyone reading my story Side By Side?
I’m almost ready to post the new chapter, but there’s still just one little detail I need to work out. So I really need your help.
I need to know what kind of injury/surgery Beckett might have had on a previous occasion that had meant she had woken up in hospital before. It could be something that happened while she was a cop, or before (eg. in her ‘wild child’ days), that she ended up in hospital for.
So the part I’m writing will go like this:
It had been a few years since she had woken up in a hospital bed.
That time it had just been ______(insert your suggestion here)______. She’d been awake in less than an hour, back at her desk in less than two. Somehow, though, she got the feeling they wouldn’t be letting her go quite so soon this time.
Anyone have any suggestions? I kind of want it to be something cool (not just her getting her tonsils out or something lol) but nothing too serious.
Any thoughts? Because here’s your chance to give Beckett a cool injury…
(Backstory: I was originally going to go with her being knocked out while chasing a suspect, but after talking to my brother- a qualified paramedic- I learned that her being unconscious for close to an hour would indicate a much more severe head injury than I want her to have)
